The Engineering Program Manager is an engineering leadership role that is accountable for strategy, multi-year capital planning, capital cashflow, and project execution. As an Engineering Program Manager you’ll be responsible for developing and sustaining a capital plan for a portfolio of projects focused on a single manufacturing segment(Bakery, Snacks, Dairy, or Fresh). In partnership with various stakeholders, this role is responsible for master planning of all new and existing facilities within their assigned segment. You will have a team of Project Engineering Managers that will report to you directly to deliver against cost, schedule, and scope for capital projects. You will be expected to partner across all functional areas of H-E-B’s manufacturing division to facilitate planning, execution, and alignment.

- Coach, develop, and retain a team of high performing Project Engineering Managers
- Ensure project management and technical development of team

Develop Strategy
- Partner cross-functionally to develop and maintain 10 year capital plan geared towards solving short and long term needs
- Partner cross-functionally to develop infrastructure improvement capital plans for all facilities
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure safety, quality, and risk mitigation projects are adequately represented and prioritized in the capital plan
- Partner cross functionally to develop automation and cost reduction projects are adequately represented in capital plans
- Ensure master plans for facilities are well developed and communicated throughout the organization.
- Support identification, definition, execution, and role out of process improvements specific to engineering processes and systems
Project Execution
- This role is expected to engage when necessary to support moving teams forward when there are a significant amount of unknowns and/or Roadblocks
- This role ensures that applicable processes are followed
- This role ensures that the right stakeholders are engaged
- This role might execute against strategic studies for projects with significant unknowns
- This role may be expected to manage special projects
- Accountable to ensure safe work practices are followed by execution teams
- Drives accountability to KPIs and project success criteria
Collaboration
- This role collaborates with all facets of H-E-B’s business. It is important for this to be a strength to be successful in Role

What is your background?
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar field (significant technical experience in a food & beverage manufacturing environment may be acceptable); master's degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience with executing projects in a Food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, personal care, or similar industry
- 5+ years of direct capital project management experience is preferred
- Experience with leading developing and, managing relationships with 3rd party engineering firms, general contractors, and OEMs
- Progressive experience in manufacturing, reliability, continuous improvement, systems engineering, controls engineering, and / or industrial engineering practices
- Experience with retrofit and revamp type projects requiring complex phasing plans while concurrently maintaining current production at site
- Experience with driving stage gate, Front End Loading, or other engineering workflow processes
- ability to manage direct reports and complex organizational cross-functional teams; ability to work independently / autonomously
- Some people Leadership experience is beneficial
- Experience leading construction initiatives
- Experience with AutoCAD products (preferred)
Do you have what it takes to be a fit as a Engineering Program Manager at H-E-B?
- Working knowledge of finance, including budgeting, capital budgeting, overall expense accounting, and tax implications
- Knowledge of building systems and construction document assembly
- Comprehensive understanding of trade disciplines, such as process, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, structural, civil, etc.
- Understanding of development / execution of industry standard procedures (e.g., FATs, SATs, CQVs)
- Understanding of project / budget controls from ideation through project close-out, including post audit
- Proficiency in MS Office products, AutoCAD, and other software related to concept development, construction, and installation documents
- Advanced organization, planning, and time-management skills
- Strong verbal / written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to collaborate with / lead technically diverse, cross-functional project teams
- Ability to lead complex projects to successful start-up, within budget, on a committed timeline
