Job Description

As a Team Leader I for H-E-B Warehouse or Transportation, you'll manage different areas of operation to develop expertise in people leadership and tactical operational leadership. You'll lead a team of hourly Partners.

 

We are seeking dynamic individuals who thrive in fast-paced, high-volume supply chain and transportation environments. We are seeking 2+ years of experience in a leadership transportation and logistics role, or a similar field.
We’re looking for a self-starter with solid judgment who can make sound employment-related decisions—or confidently recommend them. In this leadership role, you’ll oversee full time private fleet drivers, tackle partner-related challenges, and drive results by boosting productivity.
Your day-to-day will include mentoring and coaching your team, offering constructive feedback, and encouraging collaboration. If you’re great at multitasking, prioritizing, and keeping your schedule on track while delivering results, this role might be a fit for you!

What is the work?
Management / Operations:
- Spends majority of time using independent judgment making employment-related business decisions, or effectively recommending such decisions (e.g., product- and department-related strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding, or otherwise engaging in resolving Partner-related matters)
- Provides daily supervision and support for an assigned group of hourly Partners; maintains an environment where Partners trust and respect the Leader and work together as a team to accomplish goals and objectives
- Engages with Partners daily; clearly explains roles, expectations and performance measurements for each critical component that impacts business outcomes
- Operates a team that consistently meets customer needs and expectations; tracks / monitors / resolves complaints; ensures service recovery efforts; identifies trends; provides feedback
- Monitors / evaluates key performance indicators for daily and weekly team performance; measures against goals; gets team buy-in; provides team feedback
- Monitors / adjusts labor requirements to balance staffing levels and overtime costs while meeting daily facility performance expectations
- Takes an active role in development of Partners; provides leaning and growth opportunities; addresses performance that does not meet expectations
- Maintains a clean, safe, pest-free, and well-organized facility; complies / ensures compliance with established SOPs; documents measures through SOPs in compliance with OSHA and H-E-B guidelines
- Recognizes Partner achievements

What is your background?
- Bachelor's degree or
- 1+ years of related experience
- Experience in presentations a plus
- Successful completion of Leadership & Development classes as assigned

Do you have what it takes to be a fit as a Team Leader I for H-E-B Warehouse / Transportation?
- Advanced knowledge of operations of department programs
- Working knowledge of the industry and related EEOC and employment laws, and assigned department level reports
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Strong verbal / written communication skills
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills
- Intermediate skills in internal / external software and systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks; attention to detail

- Travel by car or plane with overnight stays
- Work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Work in multiple temperature zones
- Safely maneuver facility in compliance with OSHA regulations
